Note

Mitchell was a grandson of Buck Hill founder Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jenkins and the son of Mrs. Anna Webster, both of the later cottage colony members in 1938. Mitchell had studied with Daniel Garber and Edward Redfield. He later settled in San Diego, California where he was a prominent member of the San Diego artists colony. His painting Wheelwright’s Shop, was also in the 1939 Purchase prize exhibition and two other works were purchased in 2002 and 2003.
