The artist; Buck Hill Art Association, purchased for $300. [BHAA GeneralMeeting August 20, 1933] [BHAA Annual Meeting Minutes August 12, 1934], while on exhibition at Buck Hill 1933. DeHaven is quoted in a letter published in the Buck Hill Breeze, 25 August 1933, stating that Woodland Monarch was completed in March 1933.
